MDL's billing department is local and convenient. You'll talk to a real person when you call. Please direct any billing questions to 618.233.0522 and press option #2. When calling, please have your insurance card and benefits explanation for reference. Billing department hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Billing is closed on weekends and holidays. MDL offers these convenient billing options: Client Billing: MDL can bill doctors' offices directly for laboratory tests. We can break down client invoices which are processed the last business day of each month by ordering physician within a group practice. Patient Billing: MDL can bill patients directly. To ensure that we can bill an insurance company later if requested by a patient, it's important that doctors' offices provide all patient demographics and diagnosis information on the requisition submitted. Medicare/Medicaid Billing: MDL can bill Medicare Part B as well as Illinois and Missouri Medicaid programs. If possible, please include a copy of the patient's insurance card with the requisition. (Medicare Part B License is #14-8475.) Insurance Billing: MDL can bill third party payers directly. Unlike many other labs, we will bill secondary insurance companies directly when the primary insurance carrier doesn't cover all the costs. The patient's insurance information must be provided on the requisition. If possible, please include a copy of the patient's insurance card. We're a preferred provider for four of the nation's largest insurance organizations -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield, HealthLink, Medicare, and United Healthcare -- and we're affiliated with more than 100 other insurance companies and health management organizations.
